Traditional talk therapy focuses primarily on thoughts and conversation. Somatic therapy also pays attention to what's happening in your body, like physical sensations, tension, posture, and nervous system responses. Many of us carry stress, trauma, and emotion in our bodies without realizing it. By bringing body awareness into the session, we can access and shift patterns that talk therapy alone often can't reach.

Somatic therapy is especially helpful if you've tried talk therapy before and felt like something was missing, if you feel anxious or overwhelmed even when things in your life "look fine," or if you tend to disconnect from your body or emotions. It's also a great fit if you're curious about the mind-body connection and want a more holistic approach to healing.

A consultation is mostly about getting an overview of what brings you are looking for, what you've tried before, and what you're hoping for throughout therapy. There's no pressure to share more than you're comfortable with. We'll talk about how I work and whether it feels like a good fit. Many people feel relief just from having a space to be honest about what they're carrying.

The length of therapy can vary quite a bit from person to person. The answer will depend on who you are and what your goals are among many other factors. Some people come for a focused period of a few months around a specific transition or goal. Others find value in longer-term work as they go deeper. We'll check in regularly about how things are feeling and you're always in the driver's seat when it comes to the pace and length of our work together.

I am private pay only, which means I don't bill insurance directly. However, I can provide a superbill (a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurance company) for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Reimbursement rates vary by plan, so it's worth calling your insurance company to ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits.

I offer telehealth sessions for clients located anywhere in Colorado. Virtual therapy can be just as effective as in-person, and many clients appreciate the flexibility and comfort of being in their own space. You will just need to have a space that feels safe, comfortable and is confidential.
